Hello All,

At the moment I am familiar with KNX/IR gateways, I have used the Berker 8363XX before and found it easy to install, however I have a questions,

  1. At the moment I am using a push-button to transmit an IR signal to a television e.g. push-button 1 turns off TV. However I would like to have a function like a scenario where I push a push-button and TV will turn on, change channel etc, (building a scenario list)

  2. After this is installed, the client might want to alter the scenario to suit their needs, (in a basic/easy way)

If there is a solution please let me know.

  • You need device, which will make a sequence of telegrams - WAGO, HomeServer etc.

  • There is something like scene panel (not scenes, but something similar) in some devices. It is in GIRA 1052, in Berker B.IQ or Merten. It has also memory function. There you can set telegrams of scenarios,

eg: Scene no 1:

Output1 [binary] = 0 (6/0/1), transfered without delay to 6/1/1 (halogen light off)

Output2 [binary] = 1 (6/0/2), transfered without delay to 6/1/2 (LED light on)

Output3 [value] = 7 (6/0/3), if value = 7 then delay 1 sec and interpret as IR code value 1 to binary 6/1/3 (TV on)

Output4 [value] = 8 (6/0/3), if value = 8 then delay 2 sec and interpret as IR code value 1 to binary 6/1/4 (NBC channel)

....

So memory might work, but you need some interpretative device, which will make some on delays. You have to be able to program it like PLC (if value=x then do transfer+delay)

You could use a simple cost effective event controller like the Siemens N305. this will send out a number of telegrams after receiving one and you can also place time delays between each send if required.

you can have 8 different events or scenes and each can have 8 different functions. It is all set up through ets making it easy to program.

You could use a device like the KOMTECH EIB-IR module.

The module is control via EIB/KNX and can control 4x IR devices and 2x RS232 devices. It has macros with time adjustment (for expample powerup phse / cooling down phase of a projector).
