In KNX marketing you often see that it can be controlled with a web-browser. The little information available on KNX homepage about ETS3 do not cover this. Maybe someone working with ETS3 can tell if it contain a web-server and maybe show an example of a working web-interface. |

ETS3 is a tool for configuring KNX-installation and is not offering any functions like visualization or web-control. It´s not a problem to control KNX with a web-browser but you don´t use ETS for that purpose. Instead you are free to choose the best solution from competing companies and most ETS-manufacturers have some product for web-connection in their range. The most common ones today in order of complexity and price should be:
Common to all is that they handle time-control, sends e-mail on triggering (your other question) and let you view and control your functions via Internet. The more complex ones also handles graphical design and can work as a bridge between other network based system such as audio control, and IP-cams. There are also KNX-displays that can be reached via internet so you get the same view as you where standing in front or it at home. This is a good solution because you reuse an existing interface. The disadvantage is that you cant use your browser. You need a separate client-software installed. In future this will probably be different and the future is always near when it comes to technology. |
