Hello, We are writing project about KNX. Currently we are trying to built gateway from KNX to other system, and we dont know how to expose all KNX resources in our gateway. Is there any possibility(using knx messages etc) to scan knx network and to acquire full knowledge about the network(about devices, functional blocks, datapoint, group adresses)? If somebody could help us or show the way to find answers to our questions in KNX documentation? We would really appreciate it.

Best Regards, Simon and Jarek

The German company IT Gmbh sells a reverse engineering tool for KNX installations in order to reconstruct ETS3 projects( for cases where the ETS project is lost), see http://www.it-gmbh.de/en/products/reconstruction/. Why not thinking of having your product doing this type of reconstruction and import that knowlegde into your gateway. Maybe they can work with you in order to incorporate some of their product's functionalities into your gateway. It is just a suggestion. Despite this I agree with Tommy: an export from the original ETS project is the best source of information for your gateway.

Dear Mr Jarosław :-)

Your question isn't so easy. There are some ways to explore KNX network, but in my opinion knowledge to the integration should come from ETS. Almost all protocol gateways use exported from ETS informations, so from off-line informations. Knowledge from exported file should be sufficient.
