I recently found out how to use "Find & Replace" in ETS3f.

It is hidden in the menu "Extras" -> "Add-ins" and have to be activated once. Place the little icon somewhare in the menu by dragging it there. The function will save you hours of editing group addresses.

I use short but unique abbreviations when i create the addresses, then i just use Find & Replace to make it look better on the end.

Do you have other tips on good time-saving functions in ETS3 (that needed a little time to find)?

Good topic +1 from me

"Extras" > "Customize" > "Shortcut Keys" are a favorite of mine. I am using F2 to F12 as shortcut for frequently used functions such as switching between Building, Group address, and Topology view. Also for calling up the window "Modified devices" that is frequently used during commissioning.

Great question by the way

"View"- "Favorites" is a very good way to handle linking of central addresses or for copying products with preset parameters. It took me some years to find use of but i still miss the ETS2 function "Link to current group address" that in my opinion was more effective

I usually change the following default settings in "Extras" -> "Options" -> "Presentation":

  • No splash screen (saves a second or two during startup)
  • Allow multiple ETS (since I am working with many db´s)
  • No warning on delete (because i usually know what I am doing)
  • No linking of devices to current line (I know better than ETS how to address devices)

I don´t know if it saves a lot of time but it is less anoying.
