One of my customers have an old project made in ETS1.

I have never worked with ETS1 and dont know how to find it, and if it might even run on Vista.

How can i get that project in to my ETS3 ?. (i´m quite a newbie)

According to the knx.org FAQ, you can transfer a database from an older version of ETS to ETS 3 without any problem. All depends of the version you start from :

From ETS 1 to ETS 3

In this case of a such older version of ETS you must first convert the database into an ETS 2 format:

  1. In your ETS 2 directory you will find your current database which is named EIB.DB. Change its name to EIB2.DB (this is just an exemple)
  2. Take the old ETS 1 database (also named EIB.DB) and put it in the ETS 2 directory
  3. Start ETS 2. The conversion starts automatically
  4. When conversion is finished, close ETS 2
  5. In the ETS 2 directory move the EIB.DB to the ETS 3 directory c:programme filesetsdatabases
  6. Afterwards, if needed, do not forget to rename the other file EIB2.DB back to EIB.DB in the ETS 2 directory
  7. Start ETS 3 and open your converted database. It will now be converted again in the ETS 3 format.

From ETS 2 to ETS 3

  1. In your ETS 2 directory you will find your current database which is named EIB.DB.
  2. Copy the EIB.DB to the ETS 3 directory c:programme filesetsdatabases
  3. Start ETS 3 and open your converted database. It will now be converted in the ETS 3 format.

From ETS 3 older version to ETS 3 newer version.

Normally, when installing a newer version of ETS 3 over an older version of ETS 3 the conversion is automatically made. You just need to start ETS 3 and open your previous database. It will be automatically converted.
